Ballad Of: Heyyy Laura, could you tell us what you do?

Laura: I am a freelance fashion stylist and writer, I style and write for anything from print magazines such as Sketchbook magazine, Schon! magazine and More magazine to online magazines and blogs such as SuperSweet, Ribbed and for Vauxhall Fashion Scouts website (writing catwalk reports for them during fashion week).

B: How did you get into styling?

L: I got into styling through University. I studied Fashion Journalism at UCA and we had a few styling modules. I also got into styling through my many internships.

B: Why did you get into styling?

L: I got a taste for it at University and really enjoyed it. I also love being able to juggle both writing and styling, my two main passions.

B: We hear that!! It’s all about the juggle! Describe a typical day…

L: I don’t really have a typical day, it can vary I can either be researching and looking for new articles to write about either on the internet or out and about or I sometimes spend the day infront of the computer writing articles, interviews or blogs. Or I can be doing returns and pick ups all day, searching for models and designers, or looking for good photographers and make-up artists or searching for inspiration for new shoots.

B: Where is your favorite place on earth?

L: On a sunny beach somewhere, actually I really love Melbourne.

B: Who is your favorite Spice Girl?

L: I am so glad you asked this, I am actually still obsessed with the Spice Girls and really wish they would come back properly. My favourite has always been Baby and Ginger Spice. I am definitely baby spice though.

B: Hehe, don’t! You make us sound like a broken record, but yep…its one of our most important questions! It’s allll about the SG’s!

We are getting pet mice, Bon Bon and Lola…if we got a 3rd what should we call her?

L: Mollie

B: Yep, very cute, we like mollie! Who is your favorite designer?

L: Oh there are so many, Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Mark Fast, The Row, Balmain, Balenciaga, Vivienne Westwood, Acne and Ann Demeulemeester

B: Tell us a top stylist tip

L: Don’t be afraid to try things out, organisation is key and always go through your looks the day/night before.

B: If you got the chance to style Blanche, what would you put her in?

L: I think Blanche’s curvaceous body would suit a ruffle pinafore dress, from Prada’s A/W 10 collection teamed with a pair of classic low court shoes, or a pair of shorts and a cream sheer shirt teamed with a 3.1 Phillip Lim camel coat.

B: Oh, lovely!

Ballad is all about new artists…what is your top list of who we should look out for?

L: Lee Hadwin, he is a sleep-drawer, really interesting and creates amazing art under unusual circumstances.
Katrin Jakobsen, a German artist and photographer who recently created art work representing the paedophilia that occurs in places like Thailand.
Grant Thomas is an incredible new fashion photographer, he’s only 17.
Ara-Jo is a fashion designer, who has recently graduated, she has already been on Dazed and Confused’s website and Lady Gaga has been seen wearing her garments.
