Sophie Gamand - "Wet Dog" Book launch

by Mia Russell on 15 October 2015

Award winning New York based, French photographer Sophie Gamand has been keeping us entertained and educated with her expressive dog photography. She has completed several series covering a wide range of subjects from the stray dogs of Dead Dog Beach in Puerto Rico to the high fashion Chihuahuas of New York City. We are all familiar with her series “Flower Power, Pit Bulls of the Revolution”, a powerful campaign that has helped add a voice to Pit Bulls and enabled us to develop a truer, more accurate representation of this often misunderstood breed.

In 2014, Sophie's Wet Dog portrait series gained worldwide attention after winning the Sony World Photography Awards. Having expanded on this series and now with a collection of over 120 portraits, most of the which have never been seen before, Sophie has just launched her eagerly anticipated book - Wet Dog. A hilarious series of dogs photographed during their least favourite activity: bath time. Exposed at a vulnerable and humiliating moment, the soggy doggies wiggle, shake and haul themselves out of the groomer’s soapy grasp. Their priceless expressions are captured so perfectly.

Wet Dog launches in the UK today - October 15th, published by Aurum Press. Click here to order your copy.

For those of you in New York: The big launch party for Wet Dog will take place on Sunday October 18th at PowerHouse Arena bookstore in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
