Escapism for a Wednesday
We are so lucky. All of us, we are so so lucky to love art. We assume you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t, and we are little art geek addicts. Today, we wanted to just generally appreciate how lucky we are. We have day jobs, the same as everyone else. Lindsey is assistant manager in a wonderful shoe shop, and Claire is a PA to the most supportive lady in London Town. We love what we do, but we love even more that we get to dedicate so much of our lives to art. It is to us, as we are sure it is to you, the most wonderful escapism. And when escapism makes up half your life, you have to wonder… is it escapism at all..? Hmmm. Basically, there aren’t many hobbies you can fit round your shop jobs, your civil service jobs, your bar job or your 9-5…
So here we go, we will now share with you our little guilty pleasures to ensure that our day is art-full. First up Ballad. What we would do without it, we have no clue. A quick peak inside Nanny Floff…
Next up is the blogs, obviously, asside from this one (:P) some of the others that make us happy are Hannah and Landon which, as we are sure you know, is the mose enviable, inspiring and beautiful blog around. We also can’t get enough of the quirky writing and style insights of Blau over at Blaubushka, who you can also catch over on our Brand New Art We Heart page all month. We have tried to escape the addictive clutches of Square America so many times, found photography is just so fascinating! Have also recently discovered No Good For Me, which is full of sickeningly addictive vintage pictures, and witty comments about the things that we love.
This is wonderful. Stack Magazines is a wonderful concept, it’s independant magazine roulette. Head over there and check it out… who knows what you could find!
We hate ourselves for saying this, but being London - based is very lucky. And we only say this because we haven’t been based anywhere else in years… Thomas and Yasmine over on the Ballad Of… Events Page have a wonderful and eclectic mix of reviews and suggestions of things to do in London and wider. Amelia’s Magazine listings page is one of the best around if you’re looking for something to do after work or on your lunch hour.
This is why we love London so much. It’s easy to turn a freezing, skint Sunday into something spectacular…
We aren’t Gaugin fans, but we have been to The Tate so many times recently and discovered a whole host of treasures. Loving the surrealist exhibition on at the moment, have done it to death, but intend to go back! Check out this wonderful Dali ‘Forgotton Horizon’ from 1936…
Have never seen it before but it’s beautiful! And it’s very sad too, see…
Please share your little pleasures with us, we are always on the look out to expand!!
