“Darksome Night and Shining Moon,
East and South and West and North,
Hearken to the Witches’ Rune;
Hear me now, I call thee forth.”
They believe in magic, casting spells and ritual practises. The Wicca girls, although very beautiful and enticing can cast spells at any moment. We would definitely avoid sitting next to one on the tube on your way to your halloween party tonight. You wouldn’t want to wake up the next morning with goat horns popping out of your forehead, now would you?

You wake up from the nightmare from hell and your mind is working overtime. You start to come round, and notice you are still in your dream. Did you wake? Are you still asleep frozen in your nightmare? You aren’t sure, so you turn to your best mate to try to wake up, get out, run for your life. Anyway, you turn to her, expect a friendly, helpful face. Only you don’t get that do you? No…you get a girl, a girl with no face, no expression, no help.
If we were you everyone, we’d wake up as soon as possible.
Huge thanks to Ballad Fave Mr Paul Phung

You may have recently see this young chap on our blog, and now on halloween, he’s back to haunt you. This is Joshua Barber ‘s piece ‘You Are Doomed and You Don’t Even Know It’.
Think of ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ but with angels. And not just your everyday angel, with wings and a halo. Oh no, it’s those angels from hell with skulls as faces ready to abduct your soul. Watch out for these hellish lot as they won’t think twice about dragging you to the doors of Satan.

Dead, dripping with blood and guts. Chasing you through the streets, screeching your name and theres only one thing they want from you. Your soul, to make you one of them. Keep your eye out for the one with the dicky bow and blood seeping from her eye. Trust us, you will never get out alive.
Thank you to Tigzy for supplying the ghoulish imagery.

Never be around Ava Asaadi when theres a full moon in the sky. Who know’s what she will turn you into. Perhaps a Werewolf or Perhaps the girl in the image below who has grown a pair of antlers. Your guess is as good as ours, but we sure as hell aren’t sticking around to find out.

If you’re in Sheffield today then make your way down to The Crucible, where the wonderful live doodle collective The Stars in Stripes are embarking on a live Halloween art session. Be afraid, be very afraid…

The collective includes Ballad faves Lee Bamforth and Thomas Geoffrey Patrick Ball and we are constantly fascinated by what these guys produce. If you can’t make it along, don’t fret pet; The Stars in Stripes hold regular live events, and you can catch up with what’s going on on their blog. A really unique opportunity to see watch some amazing art created right in front of your eyes. Yey!

Innocent, Pure, Sweet. The girl in the white dress should be all those things. But is she? In our horror experiences (hmmm) of girls in white dresses is…don’t trust them. You’ve seen the scary films, with people getting lured by their ghostly charms then BAM! you end up with your intestines pickled in a jar. And let’s face it, no one wants that.
Enjoy Kim Koster’s Ghostly ladies in white dresses prowling the woods at night! We sure did.

Stay in the house and get caught by the scary wood cutter man? Or run for your life and have him catch up with you half way down the lane? Which would you choose?
This eerie image was kindly sent in by an old time favorite at Ballad Of…Miss Amandine P who appeared in our very first issue, Mary Maud.

This ghostly images created by the talented Aëla Labbe look like they have been taken in a haunted mansion in the lonely countryside. Creepy mannequins that look like they might come alive at any moment and petrified children hiding in the bathroom. Positively Terrifying.
