TODAY IS DEADLINE DAY for the CANDY POP! theme we thought we would introduce Adam Graff, a true CANDY POPPER! in our eyes. Bright colours, Candy Cats and a whole lot of humour you can’t really go wrong with his work. A fantastic introduction into the last few days of submission time. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
So, our deadline day for CANDY POP! is tommorow and to celebrate we are introducing the work of Caitlin Bellah. Now this young lady does CANDY POP! and she does it goooood! Pastel Princesses one after another in her shots are making us love our little CANDY POP! world that tiny bit more.
Another perfect post to lead up to our CANDY POP! deadline (now two days guys!!) A completely different style to yesterdays post, but equally as CANDY POP! sparkly, pastles and super dreamy. Helen Kirkbright is the proud owner of these pure gems and we couldn’t be happier to show you them. YAY! CANDY POP!
Emma Dudlyke is our Sunday girl today on Ballad. Emma has a certain air about her work, but works with completely different styles of photography…love a bit of diversity don’t we everyone? Enjoy Emma’s work and visit her website for more.
Lucy Driscoll is our crush for today, she is an illustrator with a definite style , and its a style which we absolutely adore. A mixture of 80′s family photos in a collage style surrounded by Lucy’s illustrations just makes the perfect combination. Visit her website to see more amazingness, and also check out her studio…it looks divvvvvine!
As you know, us at Ballad Of…love new designers, artists, photographers, illustrators…you get the gist. So when we we’re introduced to the emerging brand Scaline London. The new line is inspired by the diversity in London and is made to be an accessable blend of luxury and casual comfort. Scaline’s SS/12 is released now, to reveal a super fun, but chic and classic cuts.
The designer, Anne-Sophie Koehler, is half French and half German, but us lucky souls have managed to capture her heart and she decided to settle in London as the place to be to release her line. (We are too glad about that)
Exciting much? Head over to the website for more gorgeousness.
We have never been so thrilled when the amazing Tee designer Laura Galasso super kindly offered to grace her presence in the Lindsey & Claire wardrobe! That’s right, she gave us Tee’s each!!! How amazingly kind is that? We even got a choice of which we preffered, so naturally we went for the ones with girls on the front that most represented us. So for Lindsey, Merlina was the one, and for Claire, Gulia sped its way into her heart.
Our gift came so well presented with a little look book, a beautiful tag on the back of the tee and of course, the actual tee’s are a brilliant fit…very complimenting indeed.
Thank you so much Laura…we couldn’t be happier.
So, if you we’re an early fan of Ballad Of…and own a copy of our beloved Tommy Lane then you will have seen the delightful work of the lovely Dulcy Lott before. Here is a tale of riches to rags, as her family who we’re brought up in a wonderful grand manor house and as her grans family lost their business unfortunately had to move to a poor area of town. An emotional set of photographs show both life before and after, of the now derelict manor house and the differences Dulcy’s family had to experience.
More about Dulcy’s work from her own words from her Final Masters piece…
Coming, as I do from a fine art photography background, I wanted this medium to be at the forefront of my final masters piece. Stating this, I have always yearned to create my own Installation. So, I decided to create an Installation Art piece with a very strong tilt towards the photographic image. This Installation began very broad and contained the potential to involve many different mediums. These ‘artistic extras’ could have included; music, video, artefacts, text, etc. I would be very unhappy if my final masters piece did not excite the audience’s senses, as this has been a constant theme throughout the thesis.
My final piece is based on a true story;
When my Grandmother (Elizabeth Sigmund) was about eight years old she was forced out of her aristocratic life, as her family’s wealth began to dwindle dramatically. Elizabeth was born into an affluent family called Slater. They owned a bleaching mill - Slater and co Ltd., which was situated on the edge of Bolton, an industrial town in the north of England. The bleaching plant was later closed down as developing countries undercut prices in the textile industry. This forced my Grandmother to move into a poorer part of the city and all her expensive possessions were sold. Her family owned a Manor house called Holmses and I recently went back to visit the house. It is now in a state of extreme decay.
