It may be cold outside but Beulah Anne has very much set our hearts alight today with her feminine and utterly beautiful photography. Stunning lighting and dreamy colours (not to mention some killer gold shoes in one of the shots…ladies prepare to die!!) just shine and certainly stand our from the crowd. We want moreeee!!! Enjoy everyone.
Hey there Balladeers! We’re back from our festive fun (almost, I mean we still have NYE to go yay) but it’s about time we kick start our daily features of wonderful artists and todays cool kid goes by the name of Marina De Magalhaes. A very colourful stylist, some may even say very CANDY POP! And we are delighted to show her off on Ballad to bring us round from our festivities.
Don’t get me wrong, we dont want to go back to London quite yet, but we are getting a bit restless. The turkey & stuffing sarnies have been eaten, the Bailey’s has run dry and the lads are watching the football. Our minds are now beginning to wander south…
For Secret Santa L got C (NICE) and C recieved 2 books; Necropolis by Catherine Arnold and Covent Garden Ladies by Hallie Rubenhold. Local History..? Us..? These beauties are full of gory facts, fascinating explinations of what our local in Covent Garden used to be (…a brothel) and has just made us really eagar to get back and sus out these newly discovered London attractions!
In Necropolis, in particular, there is even a very detailed explanation of Cross Bones and the entire Borough area. Market, Church, Dungeons… The Clink - the inspiration behind Ballad Of Petra Doe of course! Can’t wait to get our explore on!!

You’ve got to admit that Christmas is the ‘Most wonderful time of the year’ - the song is proof, Andy Williams wouldn’t lie! The excitement is bubbling inside us, we’re travelling home TONIGHT and the fun times are upon us. Food, drink and family and those snap shot moments by the tree are not just things to look forward to anymore…IT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING in three days! Yes three!! You know us by now, we make a pretty huge deal about the festive period!
Have you got your New Years Eve dresses sorted? Nope. We haven’t either, and OH GOD, it’s so soon!! We put all our efforts into London Christmas day and ALWAYS forget about anything after that, and then it’s a mad rush for the other dates on the calendar - Christmas Eve, the big day and New Years Eve being the biggies.
So here’s what we have it, our London Christmas Day. After those long hours of trawling through the shops we (unfortunately) settled on an orange/red colour scheme. If it didn’t clash, we weren’t interested… (ummm!) Dinner at the Beehive, and (oh god NO!!) Red christmas hats. It’s ok for LJ, but C had her heart set on GREEN!!

If you are anything like us then you will already be a huge fan of of Scarlett Rebecca Tierney, and today we get to take a sneaky peak at her wonderful sketchbooks. Me and Claire have been obsessed with seeing the workings of peoples art since day 1 so seeing behind Scarletts imagery got us very excited.
So not only is she uber amazing at what she does, but she’s also got a heart of gold. Last month she was one of the kind artists who offered to design a one of Ballad Of…tote bag for our Ballad Of Petra Doe party. We we’re so thrilled with what she sent us, it felt like Christmas Morning hehe. WE LOVE YOU SCARLETT.
The stunning bag she made for us…how amazing?
Jo Walton is gracing the pages of Ballad Of…Online again and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Her floral charm certainly knows how to woo us into whirlwind summer memories and we think you will agree that her shooting style is to die for? Yes indeedy, she has just the ticket to get into our hearts.

We featured Hannah Mai a few weeks ago. Told you she’d be back on Ballad! We’ve had a little leaf through her website and knew you’d want to see these beauties!
Here is Hannah Mai…
And here is what she says about her work…
I don’t consider myself a technical photographer. I care more about ambiance, emotion and feelings. I get inspired by many things. Nature, my models, antiques, darkness, sad music and of course, my own feelings. I often use my photos as a mirror to project my emotions. I combine all elements, until I find the image that represents what I was looking for. Postprocessing is a very important part of my photography. With adding or withdrawing colours, elements of other photos, structures or ink and paint, I reinforce the ambiance in the photos.

Wowza, another photographer today that can just make you day dream your day away. Sofie Olejnik has such a summery way of shooting we just can’t help wishing (a little bit) we could rewind to the toasty days of August.
I know everyone is thinking about Christmas, buying presents and the flippin’ cold weather right now but lets take a few minutes to enjoy the wonderful work of Charlotte Lin. Her calming photographs sport the most divine colours we could wish for and they take us back to the lazy days of summer time. Dreamy.
