So the other day we acquired two beautiful white leather vanity cases! And guess what we found inside? A blow up Blackpool Tower!! So..obviously we made a little story up behind this find! We imagine that an lady in the forties went on a trip to the seaside town and bought this as memory of her holiday, it was still in its packet and everything! This brings back no end of amazing memories from when me & Claire studied Photography at Blackpool Uni!! I soooo want to go back and eat Candy Floss and Seaside chips!

Ahhh the memories <3

A Little Tweet often Finds The Shiniest Gems…

We just HAD to tweet Mara Balmino. She has one of the loveliest and charming blogs we have come across…make sure you head over to Clear Corner because in her own words ‘When you go back she will be gone…’

Heres what Mara has to say to us all…

Hey ‘Ballad Of…’ Here I am with enormous pleasure being featured on your blog. This invitation lets me show you guys my sources of inspiration, and for me Hedi Slimane is one of those that makes me sigh with every photo he takes. This is one of his recent works: he photographed the sisters Ann & Kirby Kenny, who happen to be two of my favorite models currently present in the fashion industry. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do. Have a nice week, and keep dreaming…’

We couldn’t agree more with the images Mara’s choice of inspiration photos! We love them..plus what fantastic gene’s the Kenny Sisters have! Jeeez!!

DAWN KINNARD ANNOUNCES TWO LONDON DATES

Dawn Kinnard has announced two new live dates, her first in the UK since 2008. She will be supporting her long time heroine Patti Smith at her Serpentine Sessions gig in Hyde Park on 29th June with a performance on the Bandstand at 8pm. On 5th July she will play at headline gig at the Borderline in London. Dawn will be showcasing some songs from her stunning second album ‘Wrong Side Of The Dream’, due for release on 13th September 2010. Thoroughly enchanting from the outset, her songs float between delirium and melancholy across a sea of happiness and heartache. Brimming with funny, sharp and poignant lyrics they tell insightful tales of heartbreak, defiance, love and loss. From the stirring beauty of future single ‘Favorite Ghost’ to the wit of songs such as ‘Death Is A Shark’, ‘Are You Still Crazy About Yourself?’ and ‘Bicycle’, and the heartbreak of ‘The Cost Of Love’ and ‘Indescribably Blue’ (Dawn’s take on the Elvis classic) to the duet with Ron Sexsmith on the gorgeous ‘The Silence Is Not What It Seems’ this is a truly incredible and original body of work that should further establish Dawn as an immensely unique and exciting talent. The album was produced by composer and music producer Damian Montagu who has worked with the likes of Michael Nyman and mixed by Gareth Johnson (Kasabian, Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs, Duffy). It will be released on the new label set up by Dawn and Damian, DK Records. Dawn’s debut album, the critically acclaimed ‘The Courtesy Fall’ was released in 2008.
