Meet The Stockists - this week SELFRIDGES

By on April 30, 2011

As you may know, each week we will be travelling to a different stockist of Ballad Of Magazine, meeting and greeting the people who sell our mag and seeing what there is to do near by.

The Outlet
This week we took a trip up to fashion heaven, Selfridges, and peruzed the four floors of glory looking at all manner of mouth - watering designer goods.
Just a short walk from Bond Street Tube Station, the “best department store in the world” really does live up to its name.
On first entering this wonderland, we headed straight to the magazine section, of course. Rows, and rows, and rows, and shelves, and shelves were stacked full of thousands of British and international titles. A home for magazine lovers everywhere (Especially now R.D.Franks is sadly shut down, R.I.P) this really is the place to replenish your personal mag collection and buy your very own issue of Ballad Of Magazine, which is kept alongside the other arty titles. The staff were so helpful, though we didn’t dare take a piccy with them and had to subdue our urge to snap… well, everything.
Tearing ourselves away, with no purchases made due to the ever absent student loan, we made our way around the rest of the store to find the best they had to offer.

Selfridges have now sold out of the Nanny Floff Issue!! But you can still buy it on our site here. You guys will just have to wait for the Pet My Ballad Issue!

Usually we would look to do things outside of the stockist, but with such a huge store full of such amazing things nothing seemed to compare. This week then, our top picks of ‘Things To Do’ are the best of Selfridges itself - our number one definitely being the Food Hall.
If you only look at one thing in Selfridges, make it the Food Hall. Gant bottles of Hershey’s chocolate sauce, hand made french fancies and a Yo!Sushi Takeaway (did anyone else know this even existed!?) mean that even if you’re not a foodie, you will be in awe at the amazing and diverse range of treats they stock. Located on the first floor - don’t worry you can’t miss it, the smell of sugar is ridiculously strong - it’s perfectly located next to their huge in house WHSmith where they keep all the mags.
If fancy food isn’t enough to tickle your tastebuds however, after you’ve had lunch head up to the third floor to take a peek at the largest selection of shoes I’VE EVER SEEN. Chanel, Jimmy Choo, Louboutin, every notable designer of these feety - treats has their own booth area, where throngs of women will be peruzing the aisles of Bally, Chloe and Gina, slipping on their heel of choice and pondering the benefits of the latest McQueen skull sandals. If you spent all your cash on one too many pints last night though, suprisingly Selfridges does offer a large selection of cheaper labels and highstreet. Labels such as Haviana, who have a whole area including multi coloured flipflop benches, Kurt Geiger and Carvela, reside right in the centre by the escalators.
