We messed with the unknown and now we’re scared. C didn’t get involved, but L Ouija boarded it up with the boys and spooks came through like… It wasn’t Mary Maud (thank god, too freaky) but stuff got weird ): - a four year old called Zachariah. He said he’s never resided in Ballad HQ, pleased about that.
and check this photo from earlier in the evening… thats got to be the ghost right there…
So I’ve started this internship which requires me to get up at 7am. In the event of my brain distintegrating on the 1hr and 10min commute, I have been making morning mix tapes to massage my brain. Much of my music taste is culminated in the need to distract myself from the nausia I feel from early mornings. Wonderful.
Anyway, this tune is really mesmorising, I am always a fan of some pummelling bass, what others might refer to as ‘phat’ - but I am a northerner, so thats almost a dirty word, innit. But if you’re not northern and phat is part of your general dialogue, then this is for you. It features singer Beth Rowley, whose voice cuts through the bass and beats without that sickly lady sound that has become recently popular (think Nero and Crush On You, it’s not like that).
A mixture of strong portraits and personal shots, Nicolette Clara Iles’ photography is simple, but charming. Her portfolio of work includes promotional shots for model and musician Josh Beech, who sits coolly in his raybans. In the portraiture shots, her subjects stare solidly at the camera, apart from the cute moggie with the pink collar who seems a little distracted!
Think it was the last standing, but my Ballad Bracelet just BROKE ): … Not to fear, it’s just in time for the launch of Little Book of Horrors, must be something bigger and better in store!!
Last week we hit headed along to our fave gallery in London Town, Orange Dot to see their new exhibition 2 to the power of 10. These guys always have the most interesting conscepts and we adore heading down to see what they’ve come up with! This time round is no exception of course, and you can catch this post card project until 29th so do make it along to 54 Tavistock Place!!
Asked to curate an exhibition to showcase the work of contemporary Bloomsbury artists for the Bloomsbury Festival, artist Geoffrey Harrison has come up with 2 to the Power 10 - A project exploring global artistic connections to the area of Bloomsbury from the networks of 32 artists linked to the area and The Orange Dot Gallery.
32 artists were each given a set of 32 postcards to create a large composite image and having done so, posted each card to a further 32 creative individuals. These collaborators subsequently added their own unique touch to the cards before posting them back to The Orange Dot Gallery to be reassembled in time for the exhibition. Curated by Geoffrey Harrison, it’s another Orange Dot corker!!
Only a recent illustration graduate from Arts University College Bournemouth, Katherine Tromans is currently enjoying the exhibition of her work at Debut Contemporary in Notting Hill. The series of illustrations - that she produced for her Final Major Project - captures picturesque visions of paradise imagined by different people. They are breathtakingly beautiful, we want our own Ballad Of… paradise, it would just be gorrrrgeous!
Ahhh, we know how to throw a good party when it coincides with office moves, print deadline and party prep! Party bags and Be - made Bolognese with a backwards Birthday banner… 27 is gunna be a good-un! Happy Birthday Thomas!!!!
Kassie Berry has certainly made us blush this morning, Ooo la la. Her own interpretation of naughty playing cards (of course a much more glam) have made us rosy cheeked and have certainly given us a Royal Flush (sorry hehe). Game of Snap anyone?
Now BigRuby is possibly the sweetest company we have ever come across. Not only are they super cool, bang on trend and make our nails look, quite frankly, bloody amazing, but they are big big big on animal rights. Their products are kind to the four legged varieties and we couldn’t be more pleased to read this. (Seriously just read their ‘about’ section…you will shed a little tear) To add to their awesomeness they also donate a percentage of their profit to make sure our furry friends out there are getting looked after. We’re also hoping the little English Bull Terrier doggy is a personal pet of the company? We would LOVE that!!!
On a very exciting note everyone, the very lovely Maria at BigRuby has kindly donated lots of lovely nail tattoos for our goody bags for the next issue launch. It just keeps getting better and better right??
We were uber happy to also recieve our own little packets of nail tattoos…We know how our nails are going look for the next party too!! Hehe.
